Bisan Toron is an experimental world music vocalist and voice teacher whose art bridges voice and soul. She relates to the voice as a sacred capacity that actively gathers the marginalized parts of the heart and offers them as a prayer of boundless textures. Born in Syria and raised in Paris and New York, Bisan studied classical voice performance, improvisation, and ethnomusicology. Her vocal journeys are informed by a multitude of cultures and vocal traditions, which she threads with improvisations in unique articulations that arise from the moment. Steeped in the tradition of universal Sufism, Bisan has performed at interfaith gatherings and has lent her voice to support global peace-making initiatives. She recently relocated to New York from Mallorca, Spain, where she was a professor of voice at ESADIB, National College of Dramatic Arts. Currently, she performs and teaches voice workshops and individual lessons using her unique method in the United States, Europe and the Middle East. www.bisantoron.com
